Born on 16 November 1965, Obi manna Nwafor also known as Saint Obi is one of the legendary pioneers of the Nigerian film industry popularly known as Nollywood.

He hails from Okpa in Mbaitolo Local government of Imo State but was born in Jos Plateau State. He is the  only son in the family of 9 children.

Saint Obi attended Zang Secondary Commercial School and in 1991, graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Jos. Inspired by foreign movies as a child, Obi always wanted to be an actor.

Saint Obi came on to the film industry in the 1960’s. He featured in numerous movies including Candle Light, Sakobi, Executive Crime and Last Party. He is regarded as one of the leading actors during his careers.

Career

As a movie producer, Saint Obi produced his first movie titled “Take Me to Mama” in 2001, where he starred as Jerry, alongside with Ebi Sam.

On May 16, the death of actor Saint Obi was announced. According to sources, the actor died on May 6 in Jos, Plateau State.

Since last month, Saint Obi was reportedly suffering from an undisclosed illness. During the time of his death, Saint Obi was a film producer and director.
