Born 30 March 2000, Lungelihle Zwane known professionally as Uncle Waffles is a Swaz-born DJ, record producer, dancer, song writer and artist based in South Africa.

Waffles was born and raised by her grandmother in Eswatini (formerly Swaziland). The dancer did not know her real parents until she was a teenager.

Growing up, Waffles loved listening to South African house music and kwaito. Some of her favorite musicians includes Black Coffee, Lebo Mathosa and DJ Kent.

Before becoming a DJ, Uncle Waffle used to be a television presenter and host on Studio 1 on Eswatin TV but left following her replacement in 2022.

Uncle Waffle started living in South Africa after she moved from Eswatini to in order to further her  education and pursue her dreams in music.

In 2020, Uncle Waffle during Covid-19 lockdown learnt how to DJ. Later, she signed to South African creative agency KreativeKornerr, who book gigs for her in the across country.

In October 2021, she went viral after her dancing video during her DJ set at the Zone 6 nightclub in Soweto went viral on social media platforms. This led to Canadian rapper Drake noticing her as he followed her on Instagram.

Following her sucess and new found popularity, Uncle Waffle ventured in to music production. In March, she released her hit song “Tanzania” and later released her EP “Red Dragon ” later that month.

In September 2022 she released “Tanzania “ music video. Same year, she performed in Global Citizen Festival in Accra.

Uncle Waffles’ second EP, Asylum, was released in March 2023 and featured the track “Yahyuppiyah”. Her song “Yahyuppiyah” is one of the trending songs use on Tiktok.

In April 2023, she became the first amapiano musician to ever perform at the Coachella.  Following the global success of her hit song “Yahyuppiyah” Uncle Waffles then shared video of her and American singer Ciara dancing on Tiktok.

Also, she is expected to  perform at the Afro Nation Festival in Miami nd Portugal in June 2023. Uncle Waffle is one of the upcoming African artist in 2023.
