Nigerian President Mohammadu Buhari, has officially sacked his service chiefs today, Tuesday January 26.

Here’s the list of the newly appointed service chiefs by Buhari and all you need to know about them.

Names of the Newly Appointed Service Chiefs:

Maj Gen LEO Irabor — Chief of defense staff.
Maj Gen I Attahiru — Army
Rear Adm AZ Gambo — Navy
AVM IO Amao — Air Force

About Major General LEO Irabor:

Leo Irabor is the newly appointed is Chief of Defence Staff in Nigeria. He is From Agbor, Delta State, in the Southern part of Nigeria. He was born in in 1962.

Irabor served in the Nigerian contribution to the joint UN/African Union peacekeeping mission to Darfur (UNAMID) and is the former commander of Operation Safe Haven in Plateau State.

Leo Irabor speaks Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, English and French, has two Master’s degrees, a post-graduate degree in public administration.

Major General Leo Irabor is currently the Chief of Defence Staff, replacing Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin after he was sacked by President Buhari.

Major General Ibrahim Attahiru

Major General Ibrahim Attahiru is the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff appointed by President Buhari to replace General Tukur Buratai.

He came in to the limelight in 2017, after he was reportedly sacked from being the commander of Lafiya Dole Operation against Boko Haram. He was also a the Major General commanding the 82 division of the Nigerian Army.

His removal from office cause major controversial as reports state that Attahiru was removed for no specific reason and for not supporting fraud.
