Rapper AKA Biography — South African rapper  Kiernan Forbes popularly known as AKA is dead. The iconic rapper was shot dead today, February 10.

AKA was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. Forbes gained significance after releasing his single “Victory Lap” which was released from his debut studio album, Alter Ego.

Rapper AKA Biography

Kiernan Forbes also known as AKA was born by Lynn Forbes (mother), who raised him alongside his two siblings. 

AKA was grew up in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa. He started music in 2002, when he alongside his two friends Vice Versa and Greyhound, formed a hip hop group called Entity.

On 28 July 2010, Forbes released “I Want It All”, which is the lead single from his debut studio album Alter Ego.

Personal Life

Forbes began dating producer DJ Zinhle at the end of 2014. The former couple have a daughter named named Kairo Olwethu Forbes, born on 8 July 2015.

In August 2015, AKA and Zinhle split after it was revealed that Forbes allegedly cheated on Zinhle with television presenter Bonang Matheba.

However, Bonang and AKA denied the allegations after they revealed they were dating in 2016. Later, Forbes and Matheba broke up in December 2017.

On 21 February 2021, Forbes posted a picture on Instagram announcing his engagement to girlfriend Nelli Tembe.

However, On 11 April 2021, Tembe died after falling a from a hotel in Cape Town in April 11th, 2021. The cause of her death became controversial as many accused AKA of killing her.

In early 2022, fellow rapper Nadia Nakai and AKA revealed they were dating. Since then, the couple have since been publicizing their relationship.

Rapper AKA Cause of Death

The rapper flew in from Johannesburg in to Durban on February 10, for his birthday party which was scheduled to hold in Yugo Nightclub.

AKA promoted the show on his social media page as he asked fans to show up. Before he was killed, AKA had gone to a fish restaurant on Florida road with some friends and his bodyguard.

He posted his location on his Instagram page. After the meal, he stepped outside the restaurant and was shot six times.

According to eyewitnesses, it was a drive-by shooting while others claimed someone worked up to him and shot him.

Meanwhile one of his friends standing with him was killed while his bodyguard was injured in the shooting.
