A Conjoined female twins has been separated at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital on Thursday, January 14.

The surgery was financially supported from Governor Abdulrazak of Kwara and the parents of the twins were also given automatic employment by the management.

The surgery was carried out by 66 team of doctors, which includes Nigerian team of paediatric surgeons, paediatricians, pediatric cardiologist, anaesthetists, cardiothoracic surgeon, nurses, pharmacists and behavioral scientists.

The first attempt by UITH to separate a conjoined Twins was in 2005 and the babies unfortunately died, after 14 hours of intensive surgery.

The team was led by Pediatric surgeon, Prof Lukman Abdul-Rahman who is pictured above carrying the babies.
