Olumide Oworo Biography

Born on 11 December 1994, Olumide Oworo is a Nigerian actor, model and politician. He was born in to the family of Mr and Mrs Oworo, who are Yorubas from Surulere, Lagos State.

He attended Rotoy Private school, Victor Island and Kings’ College, Lagos for his Secondary school education. For his university education, Oworo attend Babcock University.

Onworo started acting since the age of six with his Television series “Every Day People”. However, he became popular after his role on African Magic series “The Johnsons”.

Since his debut, he has featured  in other popular projects and TV series such as The Patriot, The Men In Her Life, Hammer, Stolen Waters, and New Son and MTV Shuga.

Career

Olumide Oworo started his acting career at a vety young age. He has been in the Nigerian Entertainment Industry since 2000.

From modeling, to rapping and acting, Olumide have had multiple careers. However he is often known for his acting skills. The multi-talented actor have featured in numerous films.

Aside being known as Tari in “The Johnsons”, his recent role on Netflix series “Far From Home” gave  him national recognition and attention.

Political Career

Olumide Oworo gained political attention after he announced he was running for Lagos State House of Representatives, Surulere Constituency 1 under the Labour Party.

He is running against Nigerian actor and politician Desmond Elliot, who is under the All Progressive Congress (APC). Although he is new to politics, Oworo says he is passionate about development and Youth inclusion in politics.

Since declaring his intention to run for the Lagos State Assembly seats, Oworo has faced numerous attacks from thugs.

On March 16, 2023, his campaign bus was attacked by thugs at Bariga, Surulere and some of his team members were injured. The attacks reportedly happened in two different location.

Olumide has won several awards including the “Mr. Popularity” prize in the Model of Africa 2012 contest, the Nollywood Revelation of The Year award at the Scream Awards 2014.

He also won The Most Promising Youth Actor award at Ping Awards 2014. Also in 2015, he was awarded the Most Promising actor at the Best Of Nollywood Award.

For his role in the Soldier’s Story, Oworo won the Best Supporting Actor at the 2016 African Magic Viewers Choice Award.
