Many Nigerian graduates can’t read or write, Minister of Education says

Nigerian’s Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, has expressed great concern over the decline in the standard of education in the country.

Speaking during the official commissioning of completed projects of school projects in Yola, Adamawa State, The Minster said that a number of graduates can neither read.

Director of Tertiary Education in the Federal Ministry of Education, Hajia Rakiya Gambo Iliyasu sho represented the Minster said the situation has caused great concern, as he urged students and teachers to sit up and face their responsibility if the situation to change.

“Some graduates of tertiary institutions across the country cannot read or write applications,” he said.

The minister reveals that many students and even graduates can not write a full sentence without making mistakes.

He then urged all education stakeholders in the country to ensure that the decline in the value of education is bridged within the shortest time frame.
