Eedris Turayo Abdulkareem Ajenifuja is a popular Nigerian rapper, singer, songwriter and activist.

Popularly known as Eedris Abdulkareem, the legendary rapper was the lead rapper of the defunct “Remedies” hip hop band.

Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem was born in to a polygamous family on December 24, 1974. 

He is a Yoruba man by tribe but grew up in the Northern part of the country.

Although the rapper took Kano State as his adopted state, his father was from Osun State while his mother was from Osun state. 

On December 2004, Eedris married his wife Sekinat and the marriage is blessed with three children.

Career 

Eedris started his career with the defunct hip hop boy band “Remedies” in 1990s before the group parted ways.

He continued as a solo artist and released the album P.A.S.S. (“Pains And Stress = Success”) in 2002. 

That same year,Eedris released an album titled Mr. Lecturer which was a hit song back in the days. The song criticized students and lecturer who indulges in sex for grade.

His third studio album titled “Jaga Jaga” was released in 2004. The song condemned the government of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

The song was later banned in radio stations and Tv station but was played in the streets, bars and night clubs.

In response to his song being banned by President Olusegun Obasanjo’s, Eedris released his fourth album titled “Letter To Mr President”

A tack from the album, criticized Obasanjo  ‘a government. He also paid tribute to Stella Obasanjo with song “Flash Up Unu Lighter” after she died during surgery in Spain.

Keyamo Controversy 

In April 2020, Eedris became involved in a controversy following the release of his new single “Jaga Jaga reloaded”

Eedris name dropped names of some top governmental officers including Festus Keyamo.

Lyrics from the “Jaga Jaga reloaded “ attacked and accused  Keyamo of eating with the cabals.

The song lyrics says, “where Festus Keyamo sef? He don dey chop with cabal o” 

Calling out the rapper on Twitter, Keyamo released text messages Eedris sent to him.
